After a great brunch at Founding Farmers, we did a quick visit to the State Department and then continued on down to the Lincoln Memorial just because it is so close. Tip: our office has a great view of the Lincoln Memorial and I have noticed people walking along the sides to the back of the Memorial. So, we decided to go check out what is behind there and it is a really nice, neglected spot.
You have a view of the bridge and Arlington Cemetery...
And the mass of tourists aren't back there, so you get a little breather...
We stayed back there for a couple minutes and then moved on....
We decided to head to the Newseum. Remember this post about the Kennedy exhibit from way back in April? Well, we finally got to see it. There was actually a lot of Camelot running through there with a movie on the 5th floor, photo exhibit on the ground floor and other bits mixed throughout, definitely see it if you are headed to the Newseum any time soon.
I also always love the views of the city from their balcony....
At this point, we headed over to Union Market for a quick lunch and then home. We rested for an hour or two by watching Louis C.K. (more on this coming soon) and then got ready for dinner with cocktails...specifically a Ben-styled negroni.
And for dinner, we went to Thai X-ing. Oh man do we love Thai X-ing (just like before)!
We rounded out the night with a drink at Shaw's Tavern and swinging by to say goodbye to Shama who is off to Lebanon for two years. Sunday morning we recovered, put together brunch, watched some more Louis C.K. and then I went to work and sadly, Pete and Claire went back to New York.
