moving day.

All in all, our moving day was surprisingly straight forward and went as planned. I know you all want a play by play, so here we go!

6:00 a.m. -We hustled over to the UHaul place and got there 5 minutes before open. Advice: always get to the UHaul place a couple minutes before it opens, because by the time we walked out the door at 7:09, there was a line 6 deep of people.

7:10 a.m. - we were driving off the lot and dominating the streets of DC in our 10 footer.

7:30 a.m. - coffee and fueling up for the day.

8:04 a.m. - started loading all of our boxes and small furniture...

And yes, the labels played an instrumental role...

9:30 a.m. - arrived at the new house! We walked through for a couple minutes and took empty pictures...

10:45 a.m. - we unloaded the entire truck. Around this time, we also crossed the street to introduce ourselves to some of the deacons at the Baptist Church across the street who were having a mini garage sale.

11:30 - After unpacking for a couple hours, Ben grabbed salmon sandwiches from Union Market. We aren't exaggerating when we say they were the best we have ever had in our life.

12:30 a.m. Cleaners came and we left to head back across town to pack up the last pieces of the apartment and to meet the movers for the 6 pieces of big furniture...

Right about now, I forgot to keep taking pictures, so lucky you, I am going to cut short the rest of the day for you and just get to the next day's photos. We unpacked for hours, it was exhausting. On Saturday, Alex, Brittany and Emmy stopped in and were our first in home visitors! We also went out to dinner with a friend on Saturday night at Smith Commons and had very well earned burgers. Second piece of advice, don't schedule any kind of get together the night of your move! We knew it was going to be a challenge but our friend is hard to nail down so we powered through the soreness and rallied.

And, we obviously had our first night's sleep in the house on Saturday!

On Sunday, we unpacked more and then unpacked some more. But, by about 3:00, we were in great shape.  Emmy, Alex, Brittany, Alison, Emily, Jen and Ryan came over for a "soft opening" and pizza on paper plates.

Here is a peak of how it looks moved in.

We still have a lot of stuff to do, but it is looking good, right?!
