For our next visit out to San Francisco, I really want to go to the Point Bonita Lighthouse! There's a half mile trail to reach it and the views just look spectacular. Assuming you pick the right day and have a clear view, it would be such a great afternoon trek, or even with fog it would still be worth it. I am overdue for a visit to California (and Olivia and Yuri just got a dog yesterday too!), so hopefully this will be happening soon!
